Section II: Object
Acquisition of a CT-scanner to Department of Forensic Medicine
The section of forensic pathology, department of forensic medicine, University of Copenhagen carries out forensic autopsies, clinical forensic medicine and other forensic investigations for the danish police, courts and other authorities. This includes the performance of postmortem CT-scans (PMCT) routinely prior to autopsies, in relation to anthropological casework and in conjunction with research projects. PMCT forms part of the basis of several of our routine and research investigations. A 64-slice CT scanner will secure our continuous routine PMCT scans, enable an optimal use of the scan room and provide an effective tool for research projects as well as the continuous effort to develop and improve the use of PMCT.

Since 2013 we have had a refurbished 64-slice dual energy CT-scanner which needs to be replaced due to technical difficulties and continuous malfunction. Also, soon the technical support for replacement parts will cease for the current model. A 64-slice CT scanner will secure our continuous routine PMCT scans, enable an optimal use of the scan room and provide an effective tool for research projects as well as the continuous effort to develop and improve the use of PMCT.
Section IV: Procedure
- The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
- absence of competition for technical reasons
The small dimensions of the room in which the CT-scanner is to be installed permits the use of a water-cooled CT-scanner only. Siemens is the only manufacturer who currently produces water-cooled 64-slice CT-scanners.
