The Natural History Museum of Denmark is an Institute under the Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen. The main duty of the museum is to take care of and communicate to the public about the national treasures of natural history. Key functions are exhibitions, research, teaching and collections management. The museum also engages in applied science, out-reach and Citizen Science. The heart to the museum is the scientific collections with more than 11.000.000 items.

The intended procurement is a KUBTEC Xpert 80L digital x-ray machine. Easy and safe access to high quality x-rays is essential for our research and curatorial work at Natural History Museums. On top of the daily use for specimen ID, scientific descriptions of new species and request form a global community scientist, we plan to digitize a large part of the scientific collection before 2006. Fx we plan to x-ray about 6000 fish specimens and a large number for other vertebrates. The technology in KUBTEC Xpert 80L, combining Optical View, image blender and alert make these goals reasonable.

Explanation:

Kubtec is the only supplier of digital x-ray device that combines X-ray images and optical images together. This, combined with the mobility of the machine, is crucial for our workflow and scientific output. The equipment is unique and patented in U.S.A. For the digitization on site in the scientific collections the combined X-ray images and optical images are a great advantages, not matched by other products.

The Optical View and the Image Blender™, that combines X-ray image and optical images together, and the automatic specimen alert are unique solutions. As far as we know there is no other suppliers for these functions.
